Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today my dad would have turned 74. I remember my dad with many fond memories filled with laughter, love, caring, sharing and most of all friendship. To say that I was a "daddy's girl" is putting it mildly. I loved hanging out with him most of the time (okay when he would embarrass me then no, I didn't like that) and really miss talking to him. I was able to share many things with my dad and really leaned on him through a lot of my growing up years. That is something that I miss more than anything. His jokes, not always appropriate, his sense of humor...he could always bring a smile to my face.
This is a poem that I wrote after hearing the words come to me in my dreams. I am not a poet but I thought it turned out nicely.
Happy Birthday Daddy. I miss you and love you.
Memories of you.

A little girl holding your hand,
A young lady dancing in your arms,
All I have left are memories of you.

The bright blue sky on a warm sunny day,
The sound of voices and the feel of the ball,
All I have left are memories of you.

The sound of your voice full of advice,
The sound of laughter and love fill the air.
All I have left are memories of you.

A heart full love and pride,
A body filled with disease,
All I have left are memories of you.

My hero to me you’ll always be
Daddy’s little girl I will forever be.
Now all I have left are memories of you.

I love you and miss you daddy!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I had a fantastic day today. The girls and daddy did a great job helping me celebrate. I wanted and received a recordable card. Shannon said that they must have tried at least a 100 times to get it done right-between the girls going "beep" and then saying their names, Abbey coughing and taking up too much time, it was finally captured and it is the most beautiful gift I have gotten. He also did a memory book that literally brought me to tears. I cried a lot this morning. I am very grateful and thankful for a loving and thoughtful husband.
I also was able to attend a baby shower for my dear friend Melissa and her beautiful little girl Sophia. She is so cute.
We visited Shannon's mom and dropped of presents with my sister. We decided to eat supper out later this week because of the craziness of the day.
I cannot let this day go without remembering my mom. Day's like today make me really miss her. I really adored my mom and was thankful for all that she had done in my life.
Here is a poem I had found for my mom.

My Angel, My Mom

That night I sat with you upon your bed of white. Sadly waiting, as I knew you were going towards the light,I touched your cheek and held your hand and said,"I love you, Mom, but I have to let you go,Because your work on earth is done."

My heart was pounding wildly and I wanted you to stay, but I knew you'd be with Jesus before the dawn of day.Your breathing became softer, until it came no more, and you looked more beautiful than you ever had before.

You were free from pain and suffering, for your soul was now set freeand though I would miss you deeply, I knew it had to be.

You had lived a long life, been a daughter, wife, and mothernow your role was changing, more important than any other.

You were to be an angel, the daughter of a King to live in Heaven above, looking down and watching over things. So even though I miss you and at times feel my heart will breakI wouldn't wish you back with all your body have to take.

You are where you need to be, an angel in the skyand I will see you once again in the sweet by and by.Until that time I have the memories of you I will hold dear.I love you, Mom, I always will. You always will be here.

Nature Center

The girls had a field trip today to the Carpenter Nature Center. It was very cool. That is something that we will go back to as a family as I think that Shannon would really enjoy it.

So Abbey has been asking more questions about God and wondering about things and the latest one that she wants to know is how the devil came to earth and why God put him here. I have to read my bible and find it in there and then give her a version she will understand. She is so inquisitive.

Ashley and Abbey got dress up shoes today and they are having fun wearing them all around with their dresses. I love garage sales.

Last night we had a great time visiting with the Duncan's. Abbey and Ashley love their girls and their girls get along well with our girls despite the age difference. The girls are getting better with big dogs. Ashley kept sneaking out treats to the dog once she figured out where the treat jar was. Anna, the dog, was on the porch and Ashley wanted to make sure she wasn't left out without food. Very cute.
